AI answering questions is no longer surprising.

But when an enterprise uses AI to analyze operating data, the hard part is not simply whether AI can answer.

The harder question is whether it can answer under enterprise rules.

The first issue is permission.

A store manager should only see their own store. A regional manager should see their region. Headquarters can see nationwide data. Finance can see profit and cost. Marketing can see campaign performance.

The same question asked by different people should produce different answers.

The second issue is metric definition.

Sales, GMV, margin, ROI, and conversion rate may all be calculated differently in different companies. AI cannot guess these definitions every time. It must follow the definitions confirmed by the enterprise.

The third issue is traceability.

Which data did AI use? Which tables did it query? Why did it reach this conclusion? Can business users verify it?

If an answer cannot be explained, it is hard to use in serious business decisions.

There is also security.

AI must not leak sensitive fields, query data beyond permission, or present uncertain information as a certain conclusion. When needed, it should ask a clarification question: Which time range? Which channel? Which metric definition?
